Dr. Edward Grant is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Carolina State University, Professor in Joint Biomedical Engineering Department at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University, formally Director of the Center for Robotics and Intelligent Machines at North Carolina State University, and a Senior Researcher in the Department of Advanced Robotics at the Instituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT). He held a visiting position in the Innovative Manufacturing & Construction Research Centre at Loughborough University. He began his working life as an apprentice mechanical engineer and design draughtsman in Kirkcaldy, Scotland.
