Sir Andy Hopper is a computer technologist and entrepreneur. His interests include computer and data systems, the use of digital technologies for ensuring well-being of the planet, and the establishment of digital commons as innovation and societal utilities. Most recently, he has been concerned with implementing innovation and business models to achieve these goals. Andy Hopper has pursued industrial and academic careers simultaneously. In the industrial context, he co-founded over a dozen companies, three of which floated on stock markets, and was CEO of an industrial research laboratory. In the academic context, he was Head of the Department of Computer Science and Technology (2004-2018) and a Trustee of the University of Cambridge (2011-2014).
