About

My research focuses on employment and skills development questions related to structural adjustment, industrial transition and regional regeneration. As an applied researcher, I have conducted research in a range of industries including manufacturing, agri-foods, electricity generation, cleantech, and transportation and logistics. I am particularly interested in the ways skills facilitate occupational mobility and the process and actors involved in connecting people to work when they are confronted with job loss and career change. The differences in disadvantaged worker experiences in urban versus regional contexts is a focus of this research. Other areas I conduct research include: Transferable skills analysis The impacts of technological change on skills and labour demand. Labour market
