David I. August joined the department as a lecturer in 1999, became an assistant professor the next year, an associate professor in 2006 and a full professor in 2012. He earned his doctoral and master’s degrees in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Among his professional activities, Professor August was co-program chair for MICRO 2009, and he served on the program committees for ISCA 2007, PLDI 2008, MICRO 2010, ASPLOS 2011, and Top-Picks 2012. His “Revisiting the Sequential Programming Model for the Multicore Era” was chosen for IEEE Micro’s Top-Picks special issue of papers "most relevant to industry and significant in contribution to the field of computer architecture" in 2007.
