About

Assistant Professor Jack Hare graduated with first class honors in natural sciences at the University of Cambridge in 2011, followed by a master’s degree in plasma physics from Princeton University in 2013. His Ph.D. research at Imperial College London was supervised by professor Sergey Lebedev on the MAGPIE generator, where he studied magnetic reconnection in high-energy-density laboratory plasmas. He received his doctorate in 2017, followed by postdoctoral appointments at Imperial College (2017-2019 and 2020) and the Max -Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Garching, Germany (2019). He started his new research group based around the PUFFIN pulsed-power generator at MIT in 2021, and moved to Cornell University in 2025.
