About

John Lloyd joined Newcastle University as a postgraduate student in 1967, obtained a PhD in 1972, and became a Research Officer in 1970. He was promoted to Lecturer in 1973 and Senior Lecturer in 1994. He served as Head of the Department of Computing Science from 1997 and Head of the School of Computing Science from 2002 to 2006. He retired in 2008. His research interests include numerical analysis, computer graphics, and parallel computation. He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and has contributed to the School's REF impact submissions.
