Colin Perkins is a Professor in the School of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow and a former chair (2019-2025) of the Internet Research Task Force and ex-officio member of the Internet Architecture Board. His research interests relate to the development of Internet technologies and standards, with a particular focus on the design of transport protocols for real-time and interactive multimedia, and on improving the way Internet protocols are designed, implemented, specified, and standardised. He's also an active participant in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), where he helps develop the technical standards that describe the operation of the Internet, and where he played a key role in developing globally deployed multimedia transport and signalling protocol standards t
