About
Professor Brown's main research interest is machine hearing, which aims to build computer systems that mimic the ability of human listeners to understand sound. A particular interest is in the use of acoustic monitoring for screening for sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnoea. He also has interests in models of auditory function, spatial hearing and music technology.He is the co-editor (with DeLiang Wang) of Computational auditory scene analysis: Principles, Algorithms, and Applications (IEEE Press/Wiley-Interscience).
