Qiben Yan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan State University, where he leads the Secure and Intelligent Things (SEIT) Lab. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Virginia Tech and currently serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security (TIFS). Previously, he worked as a security researcher at Shape Security, a cybersecurity startup, where he helped develop the pioneering "botwall". Before his tenure at MSU, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is a 2016 recipient of the NSF CRII award and has garnered several accoladesincluding the IEEE SECON 2020, ACM SenSys 2021 best paper awards, and the ACM CCS Best Paper Honorable Mention Award in 2022.
