About

Terra Blevins is an assistant professor in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston. There are two main thrusts to Blevins’ work: answering fundamental questions about the intersections of language and computation — such as whether models learn and use language in the same way humans do — and using those insights to build better human-language technologies. She hopes to extend recent improvements in English-language models to more of the world's languages, and to offer insights into how AI and natural languages work. In the future, she wants to explore how interactions with chatbots shape the language humans use. Before joining Khoury College in 2025, Blevins worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Vienna and as a visiting researc
