About

Zhiyao Duan received his BS in Automation and MS in Control Science and Engineering from Tsinghua University, China, in 2004 and 2008, respectively, and PhD in Computer Science from Northwestern University in 2013. He joined the faculty of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department as an assistant professor in 2013, and is currently an associate professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Data Science. His research interest is in computer audition and its connections with computer vision, natural language processing, and augmented and virtual reality. He received a best paper award at the SMC 2017, a best paper nomination at ISMIR 2017, and a CAREER award from the National Science Foundation (NSF).
